- The meeting has been put off for a week.
To decide or arrange to delay an event or activity until a later time or date - I bumped into Joe when I was in town.
To meet someone without planning to - Jane came up with a great idea.
To suggest or think of an idea or plan - When I lived in London, I used to eat out all the time.
To eat in a restaurant - The dispute has dragged on for months.
If an event or situation drags on, it continues for too long. - My friends and I whiled away the afternoon playing cards in my room.
To spend time in a relaxing way because you have nothing to do - I am going to run up against a lot of problems.
To face problems or difficult situations - I can’t put up with my girlfriend anymore.
To accept someone or something unpleasant in a patient way - I have a heart problem so I have to cut down on my cholesterol intake.
To eat or drink less of a particular thing, usually in order to improve your health - Joe keeps complaining and it really winds me up.
To annoy someone - Most patients find that the numbness from the injection wears off after about an hour.
